I call myself Tayreza. This is my middle and chosen name.  I am  discovering my Native American heritage.and invite you along for the journey.
I was born sometime in the 1960's, to a wonderful lady, who at the time was experiencing financial and emotional difficulties of being a married
but now single mother with children to feed and another on the way.  The authorities convinced her that she would be doing the best thing, by putting her unborn child up for adoption.
I was born, placed in a home, and grew up in a culture that was not the same as my birth family.
I was what some Native people call a "
Lost Bird".
You are born,
They take you away.
Your cries are shorn.
No time to be held,
You cannot stay.
Little Lost Bird
They take away your name,
They try to strip you of your soul.
They erase your date of birth
So that you may never know.
Your name is foreign and new
Your heritage is stolen.
Your only possessions from birth are gone.
History is rewritten,
Never intended to be known by you.
Little Lost Bird
You will remember how to fly.
They cannot erase your blood.
They cannot destroy the spirit
That can recognize the lie.
Little Bird, wake this morn!
Stretch forth your wings and fly.
You don't know wherew to go?
Your heart and soul will take you
To where your blood has ties.
Little Bird you fly into the sun!
You have found your wings,
And have taken back stolen dreams.
Your heart has answered questions
And you are free to let your spirit run.
Little Bird, lost bird no more.

Even before I found my birth family, I was always interested in the Native American Peoples.  I was constantly amazed at the lack of justice when it concerned Native issues, and the lack of sympathy.  My husband (also of Native American ancestry) and I grew more and more interested in political and social issues concerning the people.  I urge you, the reader of this to learn more.  Try visiting these links, for more information.  (click buttons)

When you realize Just how little time we as the human race actually have to spend on this earth together, it gives you a perspective that time IS relevant, and that we as a brotherhood MUST work together to cause change.  I wish that people could learn to spread seeds of love instead of hatred.
Appreciation and a yearning for understanding for each man's culture is a prerequeset to humanities growth and life, as we all walk under the hand of our Creator.
About the author of this page, Tayreza.
My Birthmother, after I was born, later married a very kind Chinese man.  So I have some siblings that have Chinese added to their heritage.  My mother tells me that we are a mix of Creek, and Cherokee, Native American tribes and a bit of French and Irish.  I go by another Internet handle called "Irishroze". The 'Irish' for my Irish heritage and Roze for my Native American.  Roze with a 'z' as a tip of the hat to the French pronunciation!

My husband is from Creek, and Irish stock.  We have two children, and we both work as artists.
